Frequently Asked Questions

What is the role of a doula?

A doula is birth support professional that offers both emotional and physical comfort throughout labor and delivery. During active labor the birthing person has continuous support which allows them to relax and ease into this transformative experience. This type of support can bridge the gap between medical staff and families keeping everyone on the same page.

Does a doula provide medical care for mom and baby?

No. A doula is not a medical professional but is an addition to your labor and delivery team. In the hospital or at home a doula's main priority is the comfort of the birther being sure to honor the unique wishes of thier birth plan.

What postpartum services do you offer?

Our standard service includes one postpartum visit at your home to discuss your unique birth as well as breastfeeding support, newborn care guidance, and emotional support for the family. Additional visits are available for a much needed respite during the newborn period.

Why are parents strongly encouraged to take a local childbirth class first?

Childbirth education classes provide expecting parents with knowledge about the birthing process, pain management techniques, and newborn care. They can help you feel prepared and confident as well as highlight areas of labor and delivery you may not have expected.
